Trip Update: NEED RESPONSE ASAP
I am still missing a significant portion of health forms and trip slips from students regarding the May 3rd LAUSD District Festival and Music in the Parks. Even if students are not attending, we need to know so that if needed, we can go ahead and cancel the trips or modify ticket numbers, for example for Knott's. It will make a huge difference in our remaining balance as well if less students attend.
Elementary Performances
Dear ESMS Music parents/families,
Select music students will be performing for our incoming 6th grade class Wednesday and Thursday. Students from various elementary schools will be on campus tomorrow morning visiting and our music students will be welcoming them in. Students in orchestra or guitar are encouraged to wear a simple black top/shirt for the performance; Mariachi will dress in their full suits. Students will be cleared from periods 1-3. Any questions, please call 323-224-4700.
Thank you!

concert dress attire and itinerary
Dear ESMS Music Parents:
The time has come! We are 8 DAYS away from our Spring Concert on April 2, 2025!
As we are working steadily toward a strong end of the year, we are asking for the following to help our concert go smoothly.
By now our students are pros, but if you need help, you can scan this code and see what works for our concert dress. White tops and black bottoms, white and black mix, or all-black FORMAL wear. Mariachi is in their uniforms or concert dress.
The evening portion of the concert will commence at 6:00 PM, with a 4:30 PM call time for students to tune and warm up. All students should be dressed and ready! We will have a few teachers helping supervise students during this time.
3. VOLUNTEER/DONATION: If you are interested in helping by running concessions or donating to the concessions, please look at the list we have attached. All donations must be dropped off at school by 4/1/25 (except for ice).
ALL STUDENTS WILL BE EXPECTED TO STAY UNTIL THE END OF THE SHOW TO STRIKE DOWN AND CLEAN UP.
This concert is considered your student’s MIDTERM for the semester.
If you have any questions regarding any part of this memo, feel free to contact Mrs. Austin at 323-224-4700
Thank you!
Yearbook Photos
Dear Families,
I hope this message finds you well. I want to remind you that yearbook photos will be taken in the auditorium on Tuesday. Please ensure that your child wears their concert attire, as jeans, hoodies, or sweatpants will not be allowed. Concert white and black clothing is acceptable - Mariachi will be wearing their suits.
Thank you for your cooperation!
Best regards,
Mrs. Austin

Dear Music Parents,

However, I would be more than happy to reschedule our meeting for a later date. Please feel free to reach out if you would like to arrange a new time by calling 323-224-4700 or emailing me at [email protected]
Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely/Sinceramente,

Important Music Practice Information
Dear Families,
Thank you for your continued support in your child's music education. I would like to remind you that music students are required to practice for one or two hours during the week. They can split this time as they see fit throughout the week, as long as the total adds up to 60-120 minutes. All beginner students must complete 60 minutes; returning second or third year students must complete at least 120 minutes.
Instruments are available for all students to take home daily or on the weekends. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at [email protected].
Thank you!
Mrs. Austin
Winter Concert on Wednesday!
Dear ESMS Music Students and Families:
Estimados estudiantes de música de ESMS y familias:
Winter Concert UPDATE
Urgent: Winter Concert Preparation – Immediate Attention Needed!
Dear ESMS Music Students and Parents/Guardians,
As we approach the Winter Concert on December 11, all students must take responsibility for their practice outside class. This is not optional—practice is essential for our success individually and as a group.
- Each student has an instrument assigned to them, and these instruments are available to check out for home practice. Students can also come during lunch to practice in the music room.
-2nd-year students are required to practice a minimum of 120 minutes (2 hours) per week.
- Next week, we will begin full rehearsals on stage with the complete concert set list, so students must come prepared.
As we get ready for Fall Break, I have prepped students and told them that their assignment over break is to take their instruments home to practice their concert repertoire. We are training muscles, ears, and minds—practice is critical to achieving a successful performance. Please talk to your child about the importance of self-motivation and how their effort contributes to the success of the entire group.
We need everyone to be fully committed as we prepare for the concert. I will be sending out more information on the concert day and attire next week.
If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected].
Thank you for your support!

2. The sale will be held from 10/21-11/1
3. Money collected will be used to purchase items such as competition entrance fees, 8th-grade medals, and music certificates.
