Dear parents and guardians,

Hello and welcome to music class! My name is Mrs. Austin, and I am so happy to be part of your student's education here at ESMS. In order for our school year to go smoothly, please ensure that your student has gone over the Syllabus, Parent Letter, and Instrument Contract with you. I do have parents and guardians go over these so that we are all in agreement as to what the class expectations are for the rest of the year.  If your student needs an extra copy, I have additional copies of all forms in English and Spanish that I send with them.

Additionally, students were given forms in Period 1 today regarding MEDIA RELEASE. These forms are important, especially for Music, as we are often filmed and photographed for promotional content and competition qualifications. Please send these forms to the school as soon as possible along with their emergency forms.

There is no big supplies list, as we are working hard to provide all students with notebooks, folders, pencils, and, of course, instruments. All students currently have received a music folder with a cover sheet. If you would like to donate, volunteer, or just visit the department, we will be having a parent meeting in a few weeks. I will be sending out a survey via the Band App.

Lastly, please make sure you accept your invite to the Band App. The Link will be posted on Schoology in your student's course and this will be the best way to contact me directly regarding assignments, events, and other concerns. Those who have turned in the forms, thank you!

¡Hola y bienvenidos a la clase de música! Me llamo Sra. Austin y estoy muy feliz de formar parte de la educación de su hijo/a aquí en ESMS. Para que nuestro año escolar transcurra sin contratiempos, por favor, asegúrese de que su hijo/a haya revisado el programa de estudios, la carta a los padres y el contrato del instrumento con usted. Los padres y tutores los revisan para que todos estemos de acuerdo sobre las expectativas de la clase para el resto del año. Si su hijo/a necesita una copia adicional, le envío copias adicionales de todos los formularios en inglés y español.

Además, hoy, en el primer periodo, los alumnos recibieron formularios sobre la AUTORIZACIÓN DE PRENSA. Estos formularios son importantes, especialmente en el área de Música, ya que a menudo nos filman y fotografían para contenido promocional y para la clasificación de concursos. Por favor, envíen estos formularios a la escuela lo antes posible junto con sus formularios de emergencia.

No tenemos una lista extensa de útiles, ya que nos estamos esforzando por proporcionar a todos los estudiantes cuadernos, carpetas, lápices y, por supuesto, instrumentos. Todos los estudiantes ya han recibido una carpeta de música con portada. Si desean donar, ser voluntarios o simplemente visitar el departamento, tendremos una reunión de padres en unas semanas. Enviaré una encuesta a través de la aplicación de la banda.

Por último, asegúrese de aceptar su invitación a la aplicación Band. El enlace se publicará en Schoology, en el curso de su estudiante, y será la mejor manera de contactarme directamente para consultar tareas, eventos y otras inquietudes. Gracias a quienes ya entregaron los formularios.

Dear Families,

I hope this message finds you well. I want to remind you that yearbook photos will be taken in the auditorium on Tuesday. Please ensure that your child wears their concert attire, as jeans, hoodies, or sweatpants will not be allowed. Concert white and black clothing is acceptable - Mariachi will be wearing their suits.

Dear Families,

Thank you for your continued support in your child's music education. I would like to remind you that music students are required to practice for one or two hours during the week. They can split this time as they see fit throughout the week, as long as the total adds up to 60-120 minutes. All beginner students must complete 60 minutes; returning second or third year students must complete at least 120 minutes.
